I met with two moms and did an in-depth interview to create a mind map and find the webs and connections between the two. Common themes were food is fuel but it often times feels like a chore and my major takeaway was both moms struggled with decision fatigue.
I developed a design statement to address the patterns I saw in the interviews "How Can I design something to help busy people make good snacking decisions without having to decide?"
I thought of weekly rotating snack dispensers in grocery stores, to cut down on packaging. Or a healthy lunchable adults could take to work that included multiple snacks to munch on during the day.
I refocused on the common pain points of parents; meal planning, choosing for everyone, food waste and kids choosing pre-packaged snacks over healthy alternatives. My solution was Snack Scout a game/app that allows kids to be apart of the snack choosing process, supports them in recognizing the food in the fridge and helps parents know how much food to buy.
